Charles Dickson, elder and long-time Watts artist placed those pieces there after the City Parks Department lopped the crown off that eucalyptus tree in front of the Watts Towers.

Charles' beautiful and moving Dr. Martin Luther King memorial is located in the Dr. Martin Luther King shopping center on the north side of 103rd Street, opposite the 103rd Street Blue LIne light rail station.
